10.88 miles. For my personal body of running work this summer, this is comparable to Roger Bannister breaking the four-minute mile. It took thousands and thousands of years of recorded human history to get to that point, and when we finally got there, dozens and dozens of runners broke the four-minute barrier in a matter of a few years after Bannister. I got double-digits tonight, and I felt as though I could run an extra 2.22 miles more and get a half-marathon completed. I am positive about getting past 10.88 from here on out. The heat was there; I ran with my Camelbak filled with G2 Gatorade to counter it. But I still had to dog it out, and that's what I'll have to do for the remainder of August until the heat finally begins to break. Essentially, tonight was a good mental and moral victory.
